Mommy Makeover

Dr. Jonathan Weiler and Dr. Robyn Daugherty understand a mother’s desire to feel confident and comfortable with her post-baby body. Due to the strain of pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding, many women are unable to get back to their pre-baby shapes with diet and exercise alone. But with continual pressure to look put together and “bounce back” after pregnancy from a large part of society, this reality can truly crush a new mother’s confidence. We offer Mommy Makeover surgery in Baton Rouge because we want you to feel your best now that you’re a new mom. You deserve to look as good as you feel no matter what obstacles are ahead of you.

At Weiler Plastic Surgery, Mommy Makeovers usually focus on the breasts, abdomen, and vaginal area to help moms restore their confidence and achieve a youthful, womanly appearance.* We work with you to design a customized makeover that addresses your specific concerns. Our surgeons are highly experienced in all plastic surgery procedures, giving them the versatility necessary to assist in any cosmetic surgery correction required for mothers.* You can customize your Mommy Makeover to best fit your needs, since no body is the same. With a variety of breast and body procedures that can help to address the most common post-pregnancy concerns, you can feel like yourself once again with the help of Weiler Plastic Surgery.

Breast Procedures

  • Breast Augmentation
    • Those who wish to add volume to the breasts may consider breast augmentation. Breast augmentation can be combined with breast lift surgery for added lift and volume.*
  • Breast Lift
    • Breastfeeding can leave breasts deflated and droopy. Breast lift surgery can restore a youthful, perky shape and appearance.*

Body Procedures

  • Tummy Tuck
    • Many women are unhappy with the appearance of excess skin in the lower abdomen after pregnancy. Tummy tuck surgery can address loose, sagging abdominal skin to create a contoured, flat abdomen.*
  • Liposuction
    • Liposuction is a treatment used to surgically remove fat cells from stubborn areas that don’t respond to diet and exercise. When used with a mommy makeover, liposuction can help sculpt the abdomen, thighs, arms, and back.*
  • ThermiVa®
    • ThermiVa utilizes radiofrequency energy to heat the outer and inner vaginal tissue in order to tighten the existing collagen.*

Your Surgical Experience

Our Mommy Makeovers are performed at Weiler Plastic Surgery under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Patients will need someone to drive them home after the surgery and have someone stay with them for a few days after surgery.

If you are receiving a tummy tuck, your surgeon will place two small drains to aid in removing excess fluid. The drains are typically removed at your one week follow-up visit. A garment is applied after surgery and should be worn for four to six weeks. If you are receiving a breast augmentation or a breast lift you will be required to wear a bra for the first six weeks.

If you are a current smoker, your surgeon advises you to stop smoking for a minimum of three weeks prior to your procedure. Smoking can greatly affect the healing process after an abdominoplasty. All current medications you are currently taking will be reviewed at your preoperative appointment and we will inform you if anything you are taking will need to be stopped prior to surgery.

Are You a Good Candidate for a Mommy Makeover?

  • Are at a stable weight?
  • Have stopped breastfeeding for three months prior to breast surgery?
  • Have deflated, sagging, or drooping breasts?

Meet Dr. Daugherty

The Consultation Process

One of our plastic surgeons and their office staff will assist in making your surgical experience as easy and comfortable as possible. You will be able to meet with Dr. Weiler, Dr. Daugherty, or one of their Physician Assistants to discuss your areas of concern and goals for your Mommy Makeover surgery. A physical exam will be done to access your abdomen, breast area, and any other areas of concern. You will be given a recommendation for the most effective procedure to meet and exceed your expressed goals, as well as alternative treatments.* At Weiler Plastic Surgery, we like for you to take as much time as you need to have all of your questions answered. Your satisfaction, desires, and goals are our primary concern.

What to Expect After Surgery

Typical recovery for a Mommy Makeover is traditionally not much longer than a standard tummy tuck. We will see you back in the office in one to two days following your procedures to remove the dressings and inspect incisions. Concerns are addressed and instructions are reviewed for optimal recovery. After this visit you will be allowed to go home and shower with your body compression bandage on, however, your bra may be removed. You should expect some swelling and bruising initially which will subside over the next couple of weeks. Tightness in your abdominal muscles after a tummy tuck is normal. Some patients may not be able to stand completely upright for a few days following surgery. Walking around after your surgery is very important to promote circulation. If you had a tummy tuck, your surgeon will recommend starting on full strength aspirin daily for the first week after surgery. You will return to the office seven days post surgery and again at two weeks for your initial follow-up visits.

Post-Op Activity Restrictions

Patient’s recovery after Mommy Makeover procedures are highly variable, but in general most patients are able to return to work within 10 to 14 days and are back to normal activities within two to three weeks.* Strenuous activity is to be avoided for several weeks following the surgery. At six weeks most patients are able to resume normal activity with no restrictions.
