Women in the Baton Rouge area who feel self-conscious or experience physical discomfort, because they have large or irregular labia, can benefit from labiaplasty performed by one of our plastic surgeons. Often called vaginal rejuvenation surgery, labiaplasty improves the appearance of the labial tissues while also tightening or shortening them for comfort.

Our board-certified plastic surgeons understand the intimate nature of this procedure and provide compassionate and sensitive care for patients who want to regain their confidence and fully enjoy their favorite physical activities. Women visit our surgeons for labiaplasty in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Covington, Metairie, and Slidell from the New Orleans area and surrounding Lousiana communities.

How Is Labiaplasty Performed?

Labiaplasty surgery removes excess tissue from the inner vaginal lips (labia minora). Our surgeons perform the procedure as outpatient surgery, meaning patients return home on the same day. They may use a general anesthetic or IV sedation (twilight sleep) when performing the surgery. Your surgeon will make meticulous incisions along the labia and then remove excess tissue before closing the incisions with absorbable sutures.

Patients whose labia changed appearance after having children often combine labiaplasty with body contouring procedures such as a tummy tuck and breast lift as part of a Mommy Makeover.

How Much Does Labiaplasty Cost in Baton Rouge?

Our surgeons tailor labiaplasty to meet the needs of each patient, so the procedure’s cost varies depending on your needs. We provide a personalized price estimate after your one-on-one consultation with one of our plastic surgeons. You can also learn more about what the cost includes on our pricing page. We offer a variety of financing options for qualified patients from the surrounding area, New Orleans, and beyond.

Are You a Good Candidate for Labiaplasty?

  • Excess tissue causes the labia minora to hang down lower than the outer lips
  • Discomfort or pain during sexual activity and exercise
  • Self-conscious about wearing tight clothing, such as yoga pants or swimsuits
  • Want labial edges to look pink

Nonsurgical Vaginal Rejuvenation Alternative

Some women considering labiaplasty may not need or want surgery. We offer a nonsurgical treatment called ThermiVa® that can help restore the appearance of your labia minor and majora using radiofrequency energy. ThermiVa heats vaginal tissue, which stimulates collagen remodeling to tighten the tissue.

The Consultation Process

Our plastic surgeons, along with our office staff, ensure you’ll be as relaxed and comfortable as possible during your labiaplasty consultation. Discussing such intimate issues can be uncomfortable for some patients, and our surgeons understand that. Your surgeon will ask about your specific concerns and the benefits you hope to get from the procedure. A physical exam is needed for the surgeon to create a customized surgical plan. The surgeon will describe the technique they recommend and explain the procedure in a way that you can understand. They take whatever time is necessary to answer your questions. Our surgeons want you to feel confident about undergoing labiaplasty.

What To Expect After Surgery

Immediately after labiaplasty many patients experience bruising and swelling. Some mild discomfort is also expected, which can persist for up to 2 weeks following the procedure. This can be easily managed with prescription and over-the-counter medications. Some patients may notice some spot bleeding, which is normal. Our surgeons have patients return to our office for follow-up appointments so they can monitor healing and address any questions or concerns patients may have.

Temporary numbness of the labia (and sometimes the surrounding area) is common after this surgery. The nerves that provide sensation take several days—and sometimes weeks—to return to normal. It can also take a few months for the swelling to completely resolve so you can see the full results of the procedure.

Post-Op Activity Restrictions

It’s important to get plenty of rest during the first few days after the procedure. That said, our surgeons recommend patients take short, 5- to 10-minute walks, starting within 24 hours of surgery to encourage good blood circulation. This will be uncomfortable, so patients should take pain medication about 20 minutes before walking.

Most patients can return to non-physical jobs within a week of surgery, but more strenuous activities should be avoided for about 4 weeks. This includes working out, sexual intercourse, and activities such as bicycling, swimming, or running. Refraining from these activities helps minimize the risk of complications and avoid compromising the results.

For one full year following your surgery, we invite you to enjoy special discounts and rewards through our Post-Op Perks program.
