Your surgeon will make a series of small incisions where the liposuction will be performed. All incisions are made in areas where they can be easily concealed underneath swimsuits and clothing. A long, thin tube, called a cannula, will be inserted through the incision and a saline solution is instilled to assist in breaking up and removing the fat cells.
Your Surgical Experience
Liposuction is performed at Weiler Plastic Surgery on an outpatient basis. Depending on the areas to be treated with liposuction, this procedure can be performed either under general anesthesia or with local anesthesia. Patients will need someone to drive them home after the surgery and have someone stay with them for a day or two after surgery. A garment is applied after surgery and should be worn for four to six weeks.
All current medications you are currently taking will be reviewed at your preoperative appointment and we will inform you if anything you are taking will need to be stopped prior to surgery.

The Consultation Process
Our plastic surgeons and their office staff will assist in making your surgical experience as easy and comfortable as possible. You will be able to discuss your areas of concern and goals for liposuction surgery. A physical exam will be done to access your areas of concern and you will be given a recommendation for the most effective procedure to meet and exceed your expressed goals.* If you’re considering liposuction for a double chin or neck fat, you might consider a nonsurgical option for facial contouring. What to Expect After Surgery
Most patients follow up somewhere between two to seven days, depending on the amount of liposuction performed. You may shower 24 hours after your procedure, but must wear the garment while showering for the first week following your surgery. You should expect some swelling and bruising initially, which will subside over the next couple of weeks. At your one week follow-up, liposuction sutures will be removed and further instructions will be addressed for your optimal recovery. Post-Op Activity Restrictions
Recovery is relatively quick after liposuction. Most patients are typically ready to go back to work after a couple of days. However, recovery time can vary depending on the extensiveness of the procedure and the areas treated.* There are no restrictions after liposuction. Our surgeons encourage their patients to get back to a regular routine as soon as possible.
