Much like tummy tucks, liposuction is a relatively well known cosmetic procedure that can help you look your best. You don’t have to settle for that little pooch of fat on your stomach or love handles that won’t go away; you can take control of your own body. At Weiler Plastic Surgery, our board-certified plastic surgeons use liposuction to help patients from Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Covington, Metairie, and New Orleans, LA, improve their body contours. This safe and effective procedure permanently removes stubborn fat deposits to help women and men feel more confident in whatever they wear.*

With liposuction, Dr. Weiler and Dr. Hogan can remove areas of stubborn fat to help sculpt and contour the shape of the body.* Liposuction surgery can be used as a stand-alone procedure or used in conjunction with other procedures to enhance results. Renuvion® is a minimally invasive skin-tightening procedure that can enhance liposuction results when mild to moderate skin laxity is a concern. While not a substitute for a proper diet, there are times when no matter how hard you work, that stubborn fat won’t go away. Make it go away with the help of Weiler Plastic Surgery.
How Much Does Liposuction Cost in Baton Rouge?
The cost of liposuction starts at $6,900 and increases depending on the extent of the procedure and the patient’s cosmetic goals. As with all cosmetic surgery, the price of a liposuction procedure also depends on the plastic surgeon’s experience and training, the location of the practice, and the type of anesthetic used during the operation. We offer patient financing options to allow patients from the surrounding area, New Orleans, and beyond to make payments over time.
Areas Commonly Treated with Liposuction
While liposuction can treat a variety of stubborn fat concerns, there are certain areas of the body that are more stubborn and more typical for treatment than others, including:
Flanks (Love Handles)
The best way to know if you’re a good candidate for liposuction and if the areas that you are concerned about can see beneficial and substantial results from the procedure is to come in for a consultation. With both Baton Rouge and Hammond locations, it’s easy to pop by. Our Covington practice is also only a quick drive away for those farther south in New Orleans.
Liposuction vs. Tummy Tuck
Liposuction and tummy tuck surgery are both plastic surgery procedures that can enhance the appearance of the abdominal area. Here is a comparison:
Tightens lax, stretched skin
Repairs abdominal muscles (diastasis recti)
Reshapes the belly button
Removes fat pockets from the belly, hips, and waist
Does not address excess skin or abdominal muscles that are separated
Our plastic surgeons often combine these procedures to renew the appearance of the abdominal area after pregnancy or significant weight loss. If your only concern is exess belly fat, liposuction alone may give you the results you want.
Nonsurgical Alternatives to Liposuction
The following nonsurgical body contouring treaments can help you get pleasing results without surgery:
EMSCULPT® reduces fat and builds and tones muscle with a series of treatments.
CoolSculpting® uses controlled cooling to reduce pockets of stubborn fat.

Your surgeon will make a series of small incisions where the liposuction will be performed. All incisions are made in areas which hide well underneath swimsuits and clothing. A long, thin tube, called a cannula, will be inserted through the incision and a saline solution is instilled to assist in breaking up and removing the fat cells.
Your Surgical Experience
Liposuction is performed at Weiler Plastic Surgery on an outpatient basis. Depending on the areas to be treated with liposuction, this procedure can be performed either under general anesthesia or with local anesthesia. Patients will need someone to drive them home after the surgery and have someone stay with them for a day or two after surgery. A garment is applied after surgery and should be worn for four to six weeks.
All current medications you are currently taking will be reviewed at your preoperative appointment and we will inform you if anything you are taking will need to be stopped prior to surgery.
Are You A Good Candidate For Liposuction?
Any area with excess fat can be treated with liposuction.
Liposuction can tighten the skin, however, if severe excess skin is present, a skin removal or skin tightening procedure may be recommended.
Can Liposuction Be Combined With Other Procedures?
Absolutely. Our surgeons often use liposuction to enhance the results of other plastic surgery procedures or to improve multiple areas in a single surgery. Popular procedures include:
Our 2 board-certified plastic surgeons are proud to offer their unique talents to women and men in their home state of Louisiana. Dr. Jonathan Weiler's vision of delivering state-of-the-art techniques is shared by Dr. M'liss Hogan, who brings skill, experience, and a woman's touch to Weiler Plastic Surgery. As a mother herself, Dr. Hogan understands the effects pregnancy and breastfeeding can have on a woman's body and self-image.
Dr. Weiler, Dr. Hogan, and their office staff will assist in making your surgical experience as easy and comfortable as possible. You will be able to discuss your areas of concern and goals for liposuction surgery. A physical exam will be done to access your areas of concern and you will be given a recommendation for the most effective procedure to meet and exceed your expressed goals.* If you’re considering liposuction for a double chin or neck fat, you might consider a nonsurgical option for facial contouring. At Weiler Plastic Surgery, we’d like for you to take as much time as you need to have all of your questions answered. Your satisfaction, desires, and goals are our primary concern.
What to Expect After Surgery
Most patients follow up somewhere between two to seven days, depending on the amount of liposuction performed. You may shower 24 hours after your procedure, but must wear the garment while showering for the first week following your surgery. You should expect some swelling and bruising initially, which will subside over the next couple of weeks. At your one week follow-up, liposuction sutures will be removed and further instructions will be addressed for your optimal recovery.
Post-Op Activity Restrictions
Recovery is relatively quick after liposuction. Most patients are typically ready to go back to work after a couple of days. However, recovery time can vary depending on the extensiveness of the procedure and the areas treated.* There are no restrictions after liposuction. Dr. Weiler and Dr. Hogan encourage their patients to get back to a regular routine as soon as possible.
For one full year following your surgery, we invite you to enjoy special discounts and rewards through our Post-Op Perks program.
