BOTOX treatments are used most effectively to smooth lines and wrinkles on the face.* Because BOTOX is a simple, nonsurgical treatment, there is minimal recovery or downtime. You can make an appointment to stop by your health care professional’s office for treatment and return to your life right away!
Immediately following BOTOX injections, it is best to avoid strenuous exercise or alcohol. You may use ice around injection sites. In addition, your health care provider may discuss avoiding using any NSAIDs, such as Motrin or ibuprofen, for a day or so to help reduce downtime.
You will be able to notice the results in 3 to 4 days, but full results will not be apparent until 2 weeks after the procedure. Treatment is usually needed every 3 to 4 months to maintain best results.*

There is no specific “best” age for starting BOTOX injections. Many people have their first treatment in their 40s when they notice lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows, or around the eyes. Young adults in their late 20s and early 30s often have treatments as a preventive measure to hold off wrinkle development.
Yes, BOTOX can help prevent new wrinkles from forming. Younger patients often use it proactively to delay the onset of expression lines, and it can also keep existing wrinkles from deepening.
Wondering what happens if you stop BOTOX? Your skin will “reset” to its pre-treatment state and continue to age as normal.
To minimize bruising and help your BOTOX last longer, avoid blood-thinning medications (like aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil), alcohol, and harsh skincare products for 24 to 48 hours before your appointment. It’s also best to skip sensitizing treatments, such as chemical peels, microneedling, or laser treatments just before your injections.
After your BOTOX treatment, avoid rubbing or massaging the area, lying down for at least 4 hours (the BOTOX 4-hour rule), and engaging in intense workouts for 24 hours. Steer clear of saunas, hot tubs, and excessive heat for a day or two. These steps help ensure the product stays in the right place and delivers the best possible results.
