How Much Does Breast Augmentation Cost in Baton Rouge and New Orleans?
The cost of breast augmentation typically ranges from $6,450 to $7,450 depending on several factors. The type of breast implants, the training and experience of the plastic surgeon, the type of anesthesia used, and the location of the practice can all influence the total price of breast augmentation. Some of our patients travel from New Orleans and beyond for a competitive breast augmentation quote. We provide patients with a detailed price after the consultation. We also offer a number of financing options to help make cosmetic plastic surgery accessible to as many people as possible.
Are You a Candidate for Breast Augmentation?
Virtually any woman who is in good overall health and wants to enhance the size or shape of her breasts is a potential candidate for breast augmentation. It’s also important to consider the reasons for wanting breast enhancement surgery. Getting breast implants because it’s what a spouse or partner wants is usually a bad idea. If you want to feel more confident in your body, breast augmentation can be an excellent solution.

Breast Augmentation vs. Breast Lift Surgery
Breast augmentation and breast lift surgery are breast enhancement procedures that provide different benefits. Our plastic surgeons often perform these procedures together to enhance both breast size and shape, especially when women have breastfed their babies or lost a lot of weight.

Breast implant profiles, which generally range from low to high, describe how far an implant projects from its base.
Low profile: These implants are wider at the base and project the least amount from the chest than the others, making them a good choice for women who want subtle results or have a broader frame.
Moderate: This implant profile, which is in the middle, provides the most natural-looking results for the majority of breast augmentation patients.
High: This implant profile sticks out the farthest and has the narrowest base, which provides more dramatic results than the others and fits well with a slim frame.
Incision Placement
Our surgeons place the implants below the chest muscle through a small incision approximately 4 cm long. The incision for breast augmentation is placed under the fold of the breast and hides very well under swimsuits and undergarments. Within a few months, the scar is virtually invisible.*
Your Surgical Experience
This procedure is performed at Weiler Plastic Surgery under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Patients will need someone to drive them home after surgery and stay with them for a day or two. After the procedure, patients are placed in a bra garment that is to be worn at all times for six weeks.
The Consultation Process
One of our board-certified plastic surgeons and their office staff will assist in making your surgical experience as easy and comfortable as possible. You will be able to meet with Dr. Weiler, Dr. Hogan, or Dr. Womac to discuss your areas of concern and goals for your breast surgery. A physical exam will be done to assess your breasts and you will be given a recommendation for the most effective procedure to meet and exceed your expressed goals, as well as alternative treatments.* At Weiler Plastic Surgery, we’d like for you to take as much time as you need to have all of your questions answered by the professionals. Your satisfaction, desires, and goals are our primary concern.
What to Expect After Surgery
We like to see our patients back in the office one to two days after surgery. At this time, dressings are removed and the incisions are assessed. Questions or concerns will be addressed as well and further instructions reviewed for optimal recovery. After the initial visit, you will be allowed to go home and shower. Patients will be seen at a week and again at two weeks post-operatively, at which time sutures will be removed if they are healing well. You should expect some swelling and bruising initially that will subside within a few weeks. Nipple sensation and skin sensitivity vary depending on the patient but will return to normal over time.* Walking around after your surgery is very important to promote blood flow and decrease swelling.
Post-Op Activity Restrictions
Typical patients’ recovery after a breast augmentation procedure is variable, but in general, most patients are able to return to work within five to seven days and are back to normal activities within two to three weeks.* Strenuous activity is to be avoided for several weeks following the surgery with patients lifting no more than 10 pounds for the first two weeks. At six weeks most patients are able to resume normal activity and exercise with no restrictions.
For one full year following your surgery, we invite you to enjoy special discounts and rewards through our Post-Op Perks program.
Recovery Timeline After Breast Enhancement Surgery
While experiences vary, most breast augmentation patients recover along the following timeline:
Day of surgery: Begin gentle walking multiple times a day.
1 to 2 days: Post-op check and dressings removed. OK to shower.
3 to 5 days: Discomfort peaks.
5 to 7 days: Return to school and nonstrenuous jobs.
Can Breast Enhancement Surgery Be Combined With Other Procedures?
Yes. Many women choose to have other procedures combined with breast enhancement—called a Mommy Makeover—to attain multiple improvements with a single surgery and recovery period. Popular options include:
Are silicone gel breast implants more expensive than saline implants?
Yes. Saline implants arrive at our office empty. We fill them with sterile saline—a very inexpensive, low-tech material—after they are placed during surgery. Silicone implants come filled with a specialized, medical-grade silicone gel that is more costly to make and distribute than saline implants.
How do I choose the right breast implant size?
Breast implants are sized by volume not cup size. It can be helpful to bring in pictures for reference of women whose breasts are the size you’d like to have, but keep in mind that every patient’s body and breasts are unique. Our surgeons will take into account a variety of factors when recommending a breast implant size, including:
Current breast size
Cosmetic goals
Anatomy including the width of your chest and hips
Lifestyle
How long do breast implants last?
Breast implants—either silicone gel or saline—can last for many, many years. You may often hear that implants should be replaced 10 years after getting breast augmentation, but this is a generalization that isn’t necessarily true for everyone. Some women have the same implants for 15 or more years. If you have silicone gel implants, it’s important to get routine MRI exams to detect any cracks or ruptures. Saline implants quickly deflate if they leak.
What if I want to replace or remove my implants later?
Our plastic surgeons perform breast augmentation revision surgery to replace breast implants with a different type or size. If your preferences change and you no longer want to have implants, you can have explant surgery.
What is natural breast augmentation?
The term “natural breast augmentation” refers to a technique called fat transfer breast augmentation. This technique, also called fat grafting, involves using the patient’s own fat to augment the breasts. This technique is limited to women who want a very modest increase in the size of their breasts (a cup size at most).
You have multiple choices if you’re planning to undergo breast augmentation surgery, including the location of incisions and whether you want the implant placed above or behind your chest muscle. And then there are the breast implant options available. Even though most patients focus on breast implant sizes, your choices also include the different types... Read More
