Hey, I’m Krystal, medical aesthetician in the Denham Springs office and I’m here to give you the 101 on microneedling. The microneedling device we use is SkinPen. It was one of the first FDA approved pens and what it does, it creates tiny micro channels into the skin to stimulate collagen. Almost anyone is a good candidate if you have texture issues, acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles also, pore size, it helps with all of that. What you can expect when you come in, we will topically numb the skin with a topical agent, which makes the procedure very comfortable. Afterwards, you will be red. You will feel like a very hot sunburn for the rest of the day. There is a little bit of downtime with that, you’ll also get some dry and flaky, that happens. Day seven you’re good to go. You’re nice and glowy. Right afterwards, you will look like you have a very good sunburn. You will be pretty red after the procedure and you’re gonna feel very tight. We do suggest a series of at least three treatments every four to six weeks, and maintenance a few times a year. It is a very popular procedure. It’s great for fine lines and wrinkles, tone, texture and pore size. Here’s how the SkinPen works. It has 14 tiny needles that puncture the skin in a very fast motion.
