My name is Sunnie and I’m a licensed medical aesthetician at Weiler Plastic Surgery at the bluebonnet location the melanage peel is a chemical peel and it differs from other chemical peels because it is specifically designed for patients experiencing melasma so melasma is a deeper pigmentation in the skin typically caused from hormones what can a patient expect whenever it comes to this chemical peel they’re going to come in and we apply the peel in office it can sit on your skin anywhere from 6 to 8 hours depending on how deep the melasma is the patient can then go home and wash their skin off we send them home with all of the the postop um products and then what they’re supposed to do going forward for about the first I guess around 72 hours the skin can feel very red tight and shiny usually by about day three is when you’re going to start peeling and you normally start peeling around that nasolabial fold area it’ll slowly kind of start to work its way back and then forehead is usually the last to go most patients are done peeling by day 10 um and again we send you home with those posttop products that you’re going to continue to use until they run out I would say social downtime for this is maximum 10 days for the peeling and flaking um after that the skin can be a little bit red just with those posttop products depending on how fair your skin might be and use those products until they run out and so that is usually about 30 full days so if you’re someone who’s been struggling with melasma this may be a great option for you if you are interested uh give us a call.
