A Mommy Makeover combines different plastic surgery procedures to help restore your body after one or more pregnancies. Typically, a Mommy Makeover focuses on the breasts, abdomen, and vaginal area to help moms restore their confidence and achieve a youthful, womanly appearance.* To get the best Mommy Makeover results at our multiple locations, our surgeons work with you to design a customized surgical plan that addresses your specific concerns.
Our surgeons are highly experienced in all plastic surgery procedures, giving them the versatility necessary to assist in any cosmetic surgery correction required for mothers.* You can customize your Mommy Makeover to best fit your needs because all bodies are different.

As you might imagine, the cost of a Mommy Makeover surgery depends on the procedures you decide to get and several other factors. Prices vary widely because each patient has different needs and cosmetic goals; therefore, each Mommy Makeover is unique. Our blog post provides more information about the price range you can expect and what the cost includes. Our plastic surgeons provide patients from nearby cities, New Orleans, and beyond a personalized price quote as part of the one-on-one consultation. We offer financing options for qualified patients to make cosmetic plastic surgery accessible to as many people as possible.
Each mommy makeover is customized to address the patient’s individual needs, but typically includes a combination of surgeries to rejuvenate the breasts and body after pregnancy and breastfeeding. After your consultation, your surgeon will recommend a customized Mommy Makeover treatment plan to help you accomplish your aesthetic goals.
Those who wish to add volume to the breasts may consider breast augmentation. Breast augmentation can be combined with breast lift surgery for added lift and volume.*
Breastfeeding can leave breasts deflated and droopy. Breast lift surgery can restore a youthful, perky shape and appearance.*
Many women are unhappy with the appearance of excess skin in the lower abdomen after pregnancy. Tummy tuck surgery can address loose, sagging abdominal skin to create a contoured, flat abdomen.*
Liposuction is a treatment used to surgically remove fat cells from stubborn areas, such as abdomen, thighs, arms, that don’t respond to diet and exercise. The 360 Liposuction technique removes fat all the way around the torso to enhance the waist and contour the belly, back and flanks.
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that changes the size and shape of the labia minora. An enlarged or irregularly shaped labia minora can cause discomfort or pain during sexual intercourse and physical activities and can cause women to be self-conscious about wearing tight-fitting clothes.
ThermiVa®
ThermiVa utilizes radiofrequency energy to heat the outer and inner vaginal tissue in order to tighten the existing collagen.*

For mommy makeover patients who want to enhance their breasts but don’t want implants, we offer the innovative DIEP Mommy Makeover. Performed in our Metairie location by Dr. Daniel Womac, this procedure augments the breasts using your body’s own tissues transferred from the lower abdomen, resulting in a natural look and feel and long-lasting results.
You should be at a healthy, stable weight before your mommy makeover surgery, especially if your procedure includes a tummy tuck. While every patient varies, ideal mommy makeover candidates are usually within 10 to 15 pounds of their goal weight with a BMI (body mass index) of no more than 30.

Get to Know Dr. FontenotOur Mommy Makeovers are performed at Weiler Plastic Surgery under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Patients will need someone to drive them home after the surgery and have someone stay with them for a few days after surgery.
If you are receiving a tummy tuck, your surgeon will place two small drains to help remove excess fluid. The drains are typically removed at your one-week follow-up visit. A garment is applied after surgery and should be worn for four to six weeks. If you are receiving a breast augmentation or a breast lift, you will be required to wear a bra for the first six weeks.
If you are a current smoker, your surgeon advises you to stop smoking for a minimum of three weeks prior to your procedure. Smoking can greatly affect the healing process after an abdominoplasty. All current medications you are currently taking will be reviewed at your preoperative appointment and we will inform you if anything you are taking will need to be stopped prior to surgery.
One of our plastic surgeons and their office staff will assist in making your surgical experience as easy and comfortable as possible. You will be able to meet with your surgeon to discuss your areas of concern and Mommy Makeover goals. A physical exam will be done to access your abdomen, breast area, and any other areas of concern. You will be given a recommendation for the most effective procedure to meet and exceed your expressed goals, as well as alternative treatments.* At Weiler Plastic Surgery, we like for our New Orleans and Baton Rouge Mommy Makeover patients to take as much time as they need to have all of their questions answered. Your satisfaction, desires, and goals are our primary concern.
Typical recovery for a Mommy Makeover is traditionally not much longer than a standard tummy tuck. We will see you back in the office in one to two days following your procedures to remove the dressings and inspect incisions. Concerns are addressed and instructions are reviewed for optimal recovery; your surgeon may also recommend Ballancer®Pro lymphatic drainage treatments to enhance your recovery. After this visit you will be allowed to go home and shower with your body compression bandage on, however, your bra may be removed. You should expect some swelling and bruising initially which will subside over the next couple of weeks. Tightness in your abdominal muscles after a tummy tuck is normal. Some patients may not be able to stand completely upright for a few days following surgery. Walking around after your surgery is very important to promote circulation. If you had a tummy tuck, your surgeon will recommend starting on full strength aspirin daily for the first week after surgery. You will return to the office seven days post surgery and again at two weeks for your initial follow-up visits.
Patient’s recovery after Mommy Makeover procedures are highly variable, but in general most patients are able to return to work within 10 to 14 days and are back to normal activities within two to three weeks.* Strenuous activity is to be avoided for several weeks following the surgery. At six weeks most patients are able to resume normal activity with no restrictions.
For one full year following your surgery, we invite you to enjoy special discounts and rewards through our Post-Op Perks program.
There’s no specific weight requirement for mommy makeover surgery, but most surgeons prefer patients to have a BMI under 30 for safety and optimal results. The ideal weight for a mommy makeover is one you can maintain long term, and is typically within 10 to 15 pounds of your goal weight. Being close to this weight helps ensure the best contouring results and lowers your risk of complications during surgery.
While a mommy makeover isn’t a weight loss procedure, many patients drop 1 to 3 dress sizes due to the removal of excess skin and fat. You may lose several pounds from the liposuction and/or tummy tuck portion of the surgery, but the focus is on reshaping and contouring, not the scale.
If you’re curious about how much fat can be removed during a mommy makeover, the safe upper limit is usually 5 liters (around 11 pounds), depending on your body. Most patients enjoy a flatter tummy and a smaller waist after mommy makeover surgery, without needing extensive liposuction.
Your mommy makeover results can be last for many years if you maintain a stable weight and healthy lifestyle. However, factors like aging, pregnancy, or significant weight changes can affect your outcome.
Because results are long-lasting, most patients only need one mommy makeover, but there’s no strict limit to how many times you can get a mommy makeover. If desired, revision surgery is possible down the line to maintain or enhance your results.
To pay for their mommy makeovers, many patients use financing like CareCredit® to break the cost into manageable monthly payments. Others save in advance, time their surgery around bonuses or tax refunds, and use HSAs or FSAs for eligible expenses, such as medication, post-op supplies, and labwork. During your consultation, your provider can walk you through the cost and payment options to help make treatment more accessible.
Most surgeons recommend waiting at least 6 months to 1 year after giving birth and nursing before having a mommy makeover. This allows time for your body to heal, hormones to stabilize, and your breasts to settle. It’s best to wait until you’ve reached a stable weight and don’t plan to have more children, as future pregnancies can affect your results.
For many patients, yes, mommy makeovers are worth it, offering a life-changing transformation that restores confidence by addressing loose skin, sagging breasts, and stubborn fat all in one procedure. Its comprehensive, long-lasting results achieve what diet and exercise alone often can’t. As with any elective surgery, getting a mommy makeover is a personal decision, but those who are done having children and ready to invest in themselves often find it well worth the recovery and cost.
