Dr. Weiler obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University. He then received his Masters of Science in Pubic Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He received his Medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine.

Following his formal education, Dr. Weiler completed a General Surgery Residency at Ochsner Clinic and completed his Plastic Surgery Fellowship at Louisiana State University.

Dr. Weiler received has received his board certification from the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr Weiler has received an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery (Gratis) in the Section of Plastic Surgery of LSU in New Orleans. Dr Weiler is actively involved in his Alma Mater and keeps abreast of the latest surgical techniques while maintaining ties to his alma mater.

Dr Weiler began his practice in Hammond, and has recently joined the Williamson Cosmetic center in Baton Rouge and now provides the highest level of Cosmetic and Reconstructive services at all three locations; Baton rouge, Gonzales and Hammond.

There are multiple ways to do a brow lift, ranging from and open incision removing excess skin and lifting the brow to a non-invasive technique that uses a camera to perform the surgery thru tiny incisions and then use internal absorbable tacks to suspend and hold the brow in place.

Typically a brow lift is done under a local or general anesthesia and results can dramatically change the shape and position of the brow. Recovery is anywhere from 7-10 days.

This procedure is often done at the same time as a facelift and can also be achieved on a temporary basis with both a neurotoxin (Botox) and filler.

Eyelid surgery can be performed on both the upper and lower eyelids. Incisions are well hidden and can only be visible to the casual observer when your upper eyelids are closed.

Typically, both excess upper and lower eyelid skin and fat is removed causing the eyes to look rested and more refreshed.

Upper eyelid can easily be performed in the office and often it is all that is needed to give someone that refreshed and rested look, recovery/bruising is typically 5 days although you will be back to daily activities in 2 days and oral anesthesia is often used for sedation during the procedure.

Lower eyelid surgery is typical under a heavier sedation and it may take up to 2 weeks to recover/eliminate bruising. You will be able to return to daily activities in 2-4 days.

Upper eyelid surgery may be covered by insurance if it is obstructing your vision. Not everyone is a candidate for eyelid surgery, you must be in good health and have no major eye diseases and must not suffer from dry eyes.

Non-Surgical Facelift – Often patients desire facial rejuvenation without surgery. There are multiple “filler” options available for those who desire improvement without surgery. Dr Weiler specializes in using safe, non-reactive fillers such as Sculptra and Radiuses combined with skin resurfacing to achieve the look of a face-lift without surgery.

Mini-Lift/S Lift — Dr Weiler offers an in office facelift called an S-lift or mini facelift that is performed under a local anesthesia with oral sedation that can tighten both the neck and lower face with a powerful procedure that can turn back the clock, recovery from this procedure is as little as a few days. Often the procedure is performed on a Friday and the patient can return to regular activity on Monday. Patients that can benefit from this type of procedure are typically between the ages of 40-60 and can be combined with other facial procedures.

Full Facelift — For those who need a powerful procedure that can rejuvenate from the cheeks to the clavicles a Full facelift may be what s needed. Typically this type of procedure is done under a general anesthesia and in a surgery center. These results are typically more powerfully and reserved for patients that are in the sixth and seventh decade of their lives. Recovery on this procedure can take 1-2 weeks.

A Rhinoplasty is performed on an outpatient basis and typically can be performed thru a very small incision in the base of the nose that is unnoticeable in a few months.

Patients that are good candidates are typically upset by the appearance of their nose and desire a correction. Some patients complain of difficulty breathing due to trauma or what is called a deviated septum. Surgery for a deviated septum or due to trauma that causes difficulty breathing is often paid for by insurance.

Surgery to correct cosmetic concerns is not covered by insurance.

Recovery time on nasal surgery is anywhere from 1-2 weeks and swelling can persist for months. Final results in nasal surgery take up to a year.

Liposuction- often if a patient’s skin quality is good and there is only an excess of fat, a minimally invasive procedure like laser liposuction can be used to remove unwanted pockets of fat and help tighten skin. Recovery is usually just 1-2 days.

Minimal Access Brachioplasty/Arm Lift – Often patients desire removal of excess fat and skin but do not need or want a scar running down their arm, for these patients liposuction combined with skin excision can be used to removed unwanted tissue. The appeal of this type of arm lift is that the scar remains well hidden in the armpit crease and is virtually invisible. This type of lift only improves the region of the arm close to the axilla and is not indicated for massive weight loss patients.

Brachioplasty/Arm Lift – This is a procedure reserved for patients that suffer from what is often called a batwing deformity, were a tremendous amount of skin hangs from the inner aspect of the arm after weight loss or the aging process sets in.  This type of procedure can remove excess skin and fat extending to the elbow and results can be transformative. Recovery is usually around 10 days.

Breast Augmentation – For patients that are looking to increase the size or appearance of their Breast, Augmentation can be an excellent option. Breast Augmentation can also be used to fill woman’s breast that has become deflated after weight loss or childbirth. There are primarily two options, silicone or saline implants, they both have their pluses and minuses and must be tailored to each body type and each patient’s expectations and desires. Implants are placed either above or below the chest muscle under the breast and can be placed thru either an arm pit incision or incision under the fold of the breast. Dr Weiler is one of the few surgeons in South Louisiana that offers the placement of Silicone Implants thru the “arm-pit/axillary” incision. The surgery typically takes 1 hour and recovery period is anywhere from 1-3 days. Our goal is to give you the results you desire and we will work with you to achieve your desired look!

Breast Lifts – Breast lifts are a procedure designed to eliminate any extra skin that is causing the breast to sag and to return the nipple to its original position. If you are satisfied with your current cup size and just desire an improvement in appearance then implants will not be used. If a patient desires improvement in the size and appearance implants are often used at the same time to achieve a full youthful look. The scar is typically around the areola and down to the inferior aspect of the breast like a lollypop shape. Breast Scars heal extremely well and it is rare to have a patient that is unsatisfied with their scars.

Breast Reductions – Breast Reductions are designed for patients that desire a reduction in the size of their breasts. Breast Reductions also include a lift. Reductions can be used to reduce the size of a breast that is causing back and neck pain or to make a breast that is too large in comparison to a patient’s frame smaller. Reductions are typically done under a general anesthesia and recovery time is 1-2 weeks. Scarring is once again in the shape of a lollypop with a scar around the areola and down to the inferior aspect. Small implants can be used in a reduction if upper pole fullness is desired. Some reductions are paid for by insurance if a patient can demonstrate medical issues related to the size of her breasts. An insurance visit will be required to be evaluated as a possible candidate for a breast reduction if insurance approval is desired.

Male Breast Reductions – Many men develop hypertrophy or enlargement of their Breasts during puberty or sexual development. Often times this hypertrophy causes social embarrassment and interferes in athletic activity. Removal of this tissue can often be performed in the office under oral sedation. Removal entails an excision of the excess breast tissue and liposuctioning of the surrounding fatty tissue to smooth the chest wall appearance. If these two procedures are not done, a large divot can result where the tissue was removed. Recovery on this procedure is just a few days and results can change a young mans life.

Liposuction – Liposuction can be used to improve the appearance of the abdominal area if excess fat is mainly the concern. Dr Weiler utilizes both standard suction-assisted liposuction and laser lipo utilizing the Slim Lipo platform. Traditional liposuction can work well for patients that are undergoing another procedure at the same time and desire additional fat removal or for patients that have excellent skin tone. Laser Liposuction is an excellent option for a minimally invasive way to remove unwanted fat and help tighten the skin. Laser Lipo does not replace a tummy tuck, but it does fill the void for patients that need some skin tightening but do not need a tummy tuck. Laser Liposuction is done under a local anesthesia (awake) with some IV sedation. Recovery is one day and there are no limitations on activities. Good results are seen within the first 2 weeks and continue to improve over a six-month period.

Abdominoplasty with Liposuction – Dr Weiler does a procedure called lipoabdominoplasty, which combines liposuction with a tummy tuck. When two procedures are combined the results are dramatic. Tummy Tucks combined with liposuction addresses upper and lower abdominal fat deposits, flanks and lower back. The tummy tuck will remove excess skin below the belly button and tighten the remaining skin and a muscle repair will also be done at the same time to flatten the abdomen. Surgery is done on an outpatient basis. Pt.’s are put in a post-operative garment and are seen multiple times in the post-operative period. Recovery is usually two weeks, although many patients are back to normal activity earlier. There is no other procedure that has as a profound effect on a woman’s silhouette as a tummy tuck.

The amount of fat re-injected can vary from moderate to fill dimpling and restore volume to large to greatly increase volume and projection for those looking for dramatic enhancements. Fat can be taken from various areas, but typically is removed from lower back, flanks, lateral thighs and posterior thighs. The fat is processed and re-injected thru tiny incisions. There will be some fat loss but patients can expect to maintain 75% of what is injected. Recovery is brisk and no longer than a liposuction procedure. Pt.’s will be asked to refrain from sitting on their buttock for 5 days and will be put in a compression garment to mold the buttocks as desired.

Liposuction of the Legs/Knees — Liposuction is a good alternative for patients looking for removal of excess fat of the thighs/knees. Pt.’s that are good candidates and have good skin tone can expect to have excellent results. Patients with excess fat around the knees can have lipo around this area to improve their appearance in shorts and skirts.

Thigh Lifts — Thigh lifts are reserved for patients that have excess inner thigh skin due to age or weight loss. If the problem is just on the inner thigh, a inner thigh lift combined with liposuction can be used to remove excess fat and skin and hide the scar in the crease of the groin. This is a procedure that is done under a general anesthesia and recovery is 1–2 weeks. If a patient has lost a large amount a weight she may need a formal thigh lift. If the excess fat and skin extends to the knee then an incision on the inner aspect of the leg like a pants seam will be used to remove the excess tissue. Recovery on this procedure is usually 1–2 weeks.

Breast Reconstruction Associates of Louisiana specializes in using your body’s own natural tissue to reconstruct a patients breast. We specialize in a procedure known as DIEP Flaps, which is a technique that takes extra abdominal skin and fat and constructs a natural appearing breast. Unlike the older method of breast reconstruction utilizing the muscles and skin of the abdomen to construct a breast, TRAM flaps, the muscles of the abdomen are left behind and there is little to no functional deficit.
