Kids do the darndest things, and sometimes those things can make you feel insecure about yourself. For example, you’re carrying your child in your arms or reading them a bedtime story and out of nowhere, your son grabs the sagging skin under your arms, jiggles it, and goes “gobble, gobble, gobble.” This certainly doesn’t make you feel great about what age or what your past weight has done to your body. But even cosmetic surgery can help with your excess arm skin that has happened over time. Dr. Weiler offers many options, including liposuction, to improve the appearance of a patient’s arms.
There are many factors, including weight loss and increasing age, which can contribute to the loss of elasticity and sagging skin in the arm area. The goal is for you to feel beautiful and confident in your body. At Weiler Plastic Surgery, we have a number of procedures available to help you get the attractive, feminine arms that you desire.*
“MINI” ARM LIFT
An arm lift, also known as a brachioplasty, can be beneficial for patients who have excess skin due to weight loss or the natural aging process. When an arm lift is performed with liposuction, Dr. Weiler is able to remove the additional fat along with any excess skin. This procedure changes the appearance of the arms, therefore enhancing comfort and restoring self-confidence.*
You can regain the natural shape of your arms that has been lost over time or with weight gain with the help of a brachioplasty. You don’t have to feel insecure about your arms or only wear long-sleeve shirts any more when you consult with Dr. Weiler about cosmetic surgery for your arms.
This procedure is reserved for patients that suffer from a condition known as batwing deformity, where a tremendous amount of skin hangs from the middle aspects of the arm. Dr. Weiler places the incision on the inner portion of the arm, so the scar is not visible when the arms are resting next to the body. There are varying levels of arm lifts depending on the nature of your personal needs. For some, an arm lift is simple and involves a little bit of liposuction and a little bit of skin reduction. For others, it can be an extensive procedure that truly provides drastic and incredible results.*
Minimal-Access “Mini” Brachioplasty/Arm Lift
Many patients desire removal of excess fat and skin, but prefer minimal scarring. Dr. Weiler performs the minimal-access brachioplasty for patients who are only looking to improve the region of the arm close to the axilla (armpit) area. This incision hides well in the armpit crease and with time becomes virtually invisible.* This type of arm lift is not indicated for massive weight loss patients.
Your Surgical Experience
Arm Lifts are performed at Weiler Plastic Surgery under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Patients will need someone to drive them home after the surgery and have someone stay with them for a day or two after surgery. A garment or ace wrap is applied after surgery and should be worn for four to six weeks. All current medications you are currently taking will be reviewed at your preoperative appointment and we will inform you if anything you are taking will need to be stopped prior to surgery.

The Consultation Process
Dr. Weiler and his office staff will assist in making your surgical experience as easy and comfortable as possible. You will be able to discuss your areas of concern and goals for your arm lift surgery. A physical exam will be performed to assess your arm area, skin, and excess fat deposits. You will be given a recommendation for the most effective procedure to meet, and exceed, your expressed goals as well as alternative treatments.* At Weiler Plastic Surgery, we like for you to take as much time as you need to have all of your questions answered. Your satisfaction, desires, and goals are our primary concern.
What to Expect After Surgery
We like to see our patients back at the office one to two days after surgery. At this time dressings are taken off and incisions are assessed. Concerns are addressed and instructions are reviewed for optimal recovery. At this visit you will be allowed to go home and shower with your compression garment on. You should expect some swelling and bruising initially, which will subside over the next couple of weeks. You will return to the office seven days post surgery and again at two weeks for follow-up visits.
Post-Op Activity Restrictions
Patient’s recovery after Arms Lift procedures are variable, but most patients are able to return to work within five to seven days and are back to normal activities within two weeks.* Strenuous activity and weight lifting is to be avoided for the first few weeks
