Weiler Plastic Surgery: Why Are Patient Reviews So Important?

Every product you buy and service that is rendered for you almost always comes with a request for a customer review. It’s so prevalent that at this point we expect it from large purchases like cars to the most minute, everyday expenditures like toothpaste. New computer? Tell us how satisfied you were with our salesmanship. Rug cleaned? Tell us how our service could be improved.

It would be more difficult to find a business NOT asking for a review of their customer experience, so we find ourselves inundated with review requests to the point we might actually block them out entirely. That is… unless we have a bad time. NOW it’s time to fire up the keyboard and get those fingers flying.

The real question is: Why do businesses want these reviews? Why are they so important? For this blog, we’re going to answer these questions and more hopefully shed a little insight into why we at Weiler Plastic Surgery need your honest patient reviews now more than ever.

Word of Mouth Matters

Word of mouth has historically been one of the most powerful methods of expanding business and knowledge of your product or service. This is because it isn’t an advertisement, it’s an unbiased account of a person’s experience. This is worth its weight in gold to you, the customer or patient, because we’ve become accustomed to a world of marketing where words like “deluxe” and “revolutionary” are all but meaningless. As a result, we rely on the word of the common user to help us make that next smart purchase or avoid that next costly mistake.

This also allows legitimate businesses and products to get their honest goods out to a bigger market. If we truly like a business that did good by us, then we want to see them succeed and we want our friends and family to experience the same feeling of satisfaction that we did.

The Motivation Makes a Difference

So, all that being said, why is it that we don’t write reviews unless we’re upset?

The simple answer is that when we feel wronged, we are motivated to right that wrong. The key here is motivation. Unfortunately, it takes many positive reviews to make up for one negative review, and positive reviews are often more few and far between.

With the advent of the internet, we now have access to reviews at any time, for any service, and can write them with blazingly fast efficiency. As a matter of fact, now that we have this immediate and broad access, nearly 70% of all consumers search the internet for online reviews and base their purchases on them. Many of the problems with motivation in writing lie with a few reasons:

  1. We are satisfied but not necessarily blown away by the service, so we don’t feel the need to write a review.
  2. We spent our money and received a good, so we are no longer “indebted” to the business to write a review for them.
  3. (This is the big one) There isn’t enough personal connection between us and you.

It’s the Personal Connection That Counts

Personal connection. That’s what really drives someone to write a review of any kind. Feeling cheated or let down can be personal, which is why we seek to rectify it. So what about the other side of the coin? Understandably, it can be difficult to tie purchasing art supplies to a personal experience, but some services evoke that response more easily than others. Case in point: cosmetic surgery and nonsurgical aesthetic services.

Cosmetic Surgery Is Personal

One of the greatest parts of working in cosmetic surgery is knowing that our services truly affect the well-being and happiness of our patients. That can be a double-edged sword, though, because failing a client can bring the exact kind of powerful effect but in the opposite direction. This is one reason we constantly strive to bring the best in terms of services and skilled providers, as well as the newest and most efficient equipment and products.

This is where we need your help!

We want to hear your stories. We want to see your personal before and afters. We want to feature our patients and their journeys with us. Not just to help us improve but also to encourage and inspire others.

For some, it’s simply not knowing the worth of the outcome. For others, it may be out of fear to make a change. Fortunately, we live in a society where cosmetic changes are becoming wholly accepted, and personal choice is lauded, not shunned. Many people could benefit from the services we offer and by promoting your stories and uplifting experiences, you can inspire others so that they can share the same positive outcomes.

We’re so grateful for all the reviews, Instagram stories, and videos you’ve already shared with us and hope you keep sharing your thoughts and opinions. We’re proud to feature the patient reviews you leave on Yelp, Google, Facebook, and RealSelf on our site, and we’ll keep showing off your before and after photos.

We look forward to hearing from our current and future patients alike. Let us know what you think!
